PATRICK THOMPSON - STANDING RIBBED SCULPTURE

Patrick Thompson, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, MI. studied sculpture at Central Michigan University.
Starting out as a painter, his curiosity and love of experimentation with various materials and techniques led to his love of sculpture. He began working with wood, often creating large reclining figurative pieces. Next came his fascination with welded steel. Using steel or combinations of wood and steel, Thompson states, "I really feel I have only scratched the surface of the possibilities of the materials I am using."
Including his steel sculpture on the CMU campus, Thompson now has several large outdoor sculptures installed in mid Michigan.
